They say a picture worth a thousand words, so let's start with a Screenshot from Levolution.
On the left side four buttons (with images) can be seen. It's the main menu. Upon selection an option from the main menu it becomes grayed and both the sub menu and the quick help are updated.
Next to the main menu (adjacent to main menu's top right corner) you can see the sub menu. It's dynamically updated according the sub menu. When selecting an option from the sub menu, apllication's main frame is updated accordingly. In the screenshot "Users" were selected from the main menu and "Manage.." was selected from the sub menu. Thus a tale of all users with manipulation options appeared.
Below the sub menu "Quick help" appears. And below the "Quick help" "Helpful Links" resides.
Rightmost frame contains advertisements.
Besides to Levolution's logo current user's name is displayed (top left corner of the screenshot).
The application also has a menu bar. Several general calculators and standard options can be reached through the menu bar.
- Users - Levolution allows several users to use the program. Levolution is a local program, thus by several users it's meant several persons using Levolution on the same computer. To change a user select: Users->Manage...->Set as active user. Active user's name is displayed on the top. Active's user data (like: weight, age and so on) is loaded by default. All operations (like: adding measurement) are made to the active user. Next time Levolution starts active user will be the active one.
- XML files - all personal data is saved locally in XML files. In such way your privace is guaranteed and because XMLs is a standard you shouldn't worry about usability of the data. You can always use it with other applications.
- Help - each panel and dialog has a help button which leads to the appropriate page on this site.
- Data storage - all data is saved to XML files upon exiting the application. You can exit either through File->Exit or the "x" (close button that appears in right top corner of the application) button. Adding a possibility of dumping all information upon user request will be considered later.
- Ads - Levolution uses the "free with adds" commercial approach. Probably the most famous user of such approach is google. Thus, as in google, there are adds in the rightmost panel of the application.
